Western Massachusetts aerospace company WGI is planning to invest approximately US$19 million to build a 68,000 ft² maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at its existing campus in Southwick, Massachusetts.
The new facility will house WGI MRO and expand the company’s capacity to service precision aerospace components. The site is expected to feature specialised equipment, increased production capacity and additional MRO capabilities to support the company’s growing customer base.
The investment comes as the 85-year-old, family-owned company looks to expand its MRO business and respond to increasing demand for aerospace component maintenance and repair services.
WGI said the project will strengthen its ability to support precision aerospace component work while expanding its broader manufacturing and repair capabilities in western Massachusetts.

The development is expected to create approximately 30 new jobs. WGI has also received approval for US$450,000 in tax credits through Massachusetts’ Economic Development Incentive Program.
The new facility is expected to add capacity to the region’s aerospace manufacturing and MRO ecosystem, while supporting WGI’s longer-term expansion in component servicing and repair.
