Texel Air has expanded its New Zealand freighter fleet to three aircraft following a NZ$95 million investment in two Boeing 737-800 Boeing Converted Freighters (BCFs), strengthening its cargo capacity across Australasia and international markets.
The latest addition, registered ZK-TXH and named Florence, will initially operate charter services, supporting domestic freight movements and international cargo operations. The aircraft follows the delivery of another 737-800BCF, named Karen, in August 2026.
The two aircraft increase Texel Air’s Australasian fleet to seven Boeing 737-800BCFs, while its global fleet now comprises 12 Boeing 737 aircraft, including five based in Bahrain. The expansion also brings the company’s Australasian workforce to more than 165 employees.

The delivery of Florence marks a milestone for Boeing’s passenger-to-freighter conversion programme, becoming the 200th aircraft converted under the 737-800BCF programme. The conversion process involves structural modifications to enable dedicated cargo operations, including the installation of a main-deck cargo door, reinforced flooring and cargo handling systems.
Texel Air expects the additional capacity to strengthen freight connectivity between New Zealand’s major cargo hubs and regional destinations while supporting international trade. The aircraft will also provide capacity for time-sensitive shipments and specialised charter operations.
The investment reflects Texel Air’s continued expansion in the Australasian air cargo market, where dedicated freighter capacity plays an important role in supporting domestic logistics and cross-border freight movements.
