Embraer and ANA Holdings Inc. (ANA HD) have signed an agreement for eight additional E190-E2 aircraft, formalising the Japanese airline group’s decision announced in July 2026 to expand its regional fleet.
The agreement builds on ANA HD’s original order for 15 E190-E2 aircraft, announced in 2025. With the latest deal, ANA HD’s total firm orders for Embraer’s E2 family now stand at 23 aircraft, with a further five E190-E2 options remaining. ANA HD’s first E190-E2 is scheduled for delivery in 2028.
The additional aircraft are expected to support ANA HD’s plans to strengthen its regional aviation network in Japan, while improving connectivity between existing and emerging markets.
Koji Shibata, President and CEO, ANA Holdings, said the additional order reflects the group’s confidence in the E190-E2 and its role in developing a more sustainable regional network.
The E190-E2 is designed to offer improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions and reduced noise compared with previous-generation aircraft, while providing operational flexibility for airlines serving shorter and thinner routes.
Arjan Meijer, President and CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation, said ANA HD’s continued investment in the E2 family demonstrates its confidence in the aircraft’s economics and fuel efficiency.
The E190-E2 forms part of Embraer’s E-Jets E2 family, which has been developed to provide lower operating costs and improved environmental performance while retaining the flexibility of a smaller narrowbody aircraft.
The aircraft is also designed to provide an enhanced passenger experience, with a cabin layout intended to offer greater personal space and comfort.
Embraer E-Jets have been operating in Japan since 2009, with the manufacturer maintaining a local support presence to assist operators in the country.

For ANA HD, the growing E190-E2 fleet will add capacity to its regional network while providing a newer-generation aircraft platform designed around efficiency and operational flexibility.
The latest order further strengthens the relationship between ANA HD and Embraer and marks another step in the Japanese airline group’s plans to modernise and expand its regional fleet.
