Honeywell Aerospace signs UK Armed Forces Covenant to support technical workforce

Honeywell Aerospace has signed the UK Armed Forces Covenant, reinforcing its commitment to recruiting and supporting veterans, reservists and military families as it develops its aerospace and defence workforce.

Following its spin-off from Honeywell Technologies earlier this year, the company has signed the covenant as an independent aerospace and defence business. The commitment builds on Honeywell Aerospace’s longstanding relationships with UK military and defence customers while supporting career opportunities for people transitioning from military service to civilian employment.

The covenant was signed by Edward Gay, Senior Director, Program Management – Federal Solutions at Honeywell Aerospace, alongside Lieutenant Colonel Katie McLeman, Commanding Officer of 6 Regiment Army Air Corps, during a ceremony at the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop, Hampshire.

“People who serve in the Armed Forces develop skills and experience that can bring real value to businesses like ours,” said Kye Williams, EMEA Senior Engineering Manager and founder and chair of Honeywell Aerospace’s UK Veterans Employee Resource Group. “By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, we are making a clear commitment to supporting this community and creating opportunities for veterans, reservists and military families to build rewarding careers with Honeywell Aerospace.”

For the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sector, military-to-civilian career pathways can help bring technical knowledge, engineering experience and operational skills into the wider aerospace workforce. Veterans may offer transferable capabilities relevant to maintenance operations, technical support and programme management, although additional civilian qualifications or regulatory training may be required for specific roles.

The UK Armed Forces Covenant is a public commitment to ensuring that serving personnel, veterans and their families are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged because of military service. Signatories can support the community through recruitment, career development and reservist employment arrangements.

Honeywell Aerospace’s commitment highlights workforce development as part of its wider presence in the UK aerospace and defence industry.
