Global Engine Maintenance (GEM) India has marked the soft launch of its operations, advancing plans to establish a purpose-built aircraft engine aftermarket hub in India
Global Engine Maintenance India has marked the soft launch of its operations, marking an important step in the development of its engine aftermarket business in the country. The company said its new operation will provide a range of capabilities focused on supporting the aviation engine aftermarket, with an initial emphasis on the CFM56 engine family.
GEM India’s capabilities include CFM56 engine and module teardowns, engine lease-return storage, technical records management and used serviceable material (USM) sales. The company is positioning the facility to support airlines, lessors, MRO providers and other aftermarket customers across India, Asia and international markets.
The operation is designed to address growing requirements for engine asset management, component availability and end-of-life engine support as the global installed base of CFM56 engines continues to generate aftermarket demand.
The company’s development also reflects India’s expanding role in the global aviation MRO and aftermarket ecosystem, particularly as operators and lessors increasingly look for regional solutions for engine disassembly, storage, records management and material recovery.
GEM India said the soft launch represents the collective effort of its growing team and marks the beginning of its planned operations.

With its initial capabilities now coming online, GEM India is looking to establish itself as a dedicated engine aftermarket resource serving customers from India and the wider Asian market.
