Avation appoints Tony Romano as CCO to drive global growth

Avation PLC has appointed aviation industry veteran Tony Romano as its new Chief Commercial Officer, strengthening its commercial leadership as the aircraft lessor advances its global fleet placement strategy.

Romano joined the company in August 2026 and will lead and mentor Avation’s global airline marketing team. In his new role, he will oversee airline marketing initiatives, support aircraft placements, and manage lease extensions, remarketing and aircraft transitions across the company’s portfolio.

He brings more than 30 years of international aviation experience spanning aircraft sales, leasing, airline marketing, commercial strategy and transaction execution. Throughout his career, Romano has held senior commercial positions at Nordic Aviation Capital, Airbus America and Bombardier Commercial Aircraft.

Most recently, he served as Vice President, Global Marketing, Americas at Nordic Aviation Capital, where he led airline marketing and commercial activities across North America. Working closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams, he originated, structured and executed aircraft lease transactions.

Before joining Nordic Aviation Capital, Romano was Director of Sales, North America at Airbus America, leading multidisciplinary teams across sales, marketing and customer support. During his tenure, he played a key commercial role in Airbus’ successful campaign with Delta Air Lines for 75 Airbus A220 aircraft, along with 50 purchase options. He also negotiated the memorandum of understanding with Breeze Airways and JetBlue covering 170 Airbus A220 aircraft.

Earlier in his career, Romano held senior sales roles at Bombardier Commercial Aircraft across the Asia-Pacific region and the Americas. His achievements included securing Bombardier’s first commercial aircraft order in South Korea and expanding the manufacturer’s presence across North America and Asia-Pacific.

Avation said Romano’s extensive industry relationships, commercial expertise and experience in aircraft marketing and transaction execution will support the placement of its existing orderbook of ATR72-600 aircraft, with deliveries available through 2034. The company also expects him to play a key role in enhancing fleet utilisation and strengthening long-term relationships with airline customers worldwide.
