AEGEAN Airlines has appointed Michalis Kouveliotis as Chief Executive Officer, effective October 12, 2026, marking a leadership transition at the Greek carrier after Dimitris Gerogiannis’s 20-year tenure in the role.
Kouveliotis previously served as Chief Financial Officer, a position he held before AEGEAN’s listing on the Athens Stock Exchange. In early 2025, he was appointed Deputy CEO, taking responsibility for coordinating the airline’s business divisions as part of a planned succession process.
Gerogiannis, a founding executive who played a key role in AEGEAN’s growth alongside founder Theodoros Vassilakis, will continue contributing to the company in an advisory capacity. His responsibilities will include overseeing the development of AEGEAN’s Technical Base and Training Center, reflecting the airline’s continued focus on strengthening its technical infrastructure and training capabilities.

AEGEAN Chairman Eftichios Vassilakis said the leadership transition is designed to ensure continuity while reinforcing the company’s management structure, supporting network development and advancing investment in technical capabilities.
The CEO appointment follows further changes to the airline’s senior management team. Stella Dimaraki became CFO, while Ilias Mandroukas was appointed Chief Commercial Officer, with both appointments taking effect on October 1, 2026.
The leadership changes signal a new phase for AEGEAN as it transitions from its founding executive team to a new generation of leaders while maintaining its focus on operational development, technical capabilities, and long-term growth.
