TARMAC Aerosave secures DGCA approval for Indian-registered A320 family aircraft

TARMAC Aerosave has received approval from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to perform maintenance on Indian-registered Airbus A320-family aircraft, expanding the company’s ability to support operators and lessors in the country’s growing aviation market.

The approval, announced at MRO Asia-Pacific 2026 in Singapore, covers the full Airbus A320 family across four engine types — CFM56, IAE V2500, CFM LEAP-1A and Pratt & Whitney PW1100G.

Under the approval, TARMAC Aerosave’s facility in Tarbes, France, is authorised to carry out maintenance on Indian-registered aircraft and issue certificates of release to service recognised by the Indian aviation authority.

The scope covers the company’s core aircraft lifecycle services, including base maintenance, end-of-lease transitions, aircraft storage and preservation, return-to-service activities and engine services.

India’s rapid fleet expansion has created increasing demand for maintenance, storage, transition and return-to-service capabilities for narrowbody aircraft. The new DGCA approval aligns with the composition of India’s A320-family fleet, covering both current-generation and previous-generation engine variants.

The inclusion of CFM LEAP-1A and Pratt & Whitney PW1100G, alongside CFM56-5B and IAE V2500, enables TARMAC Aerosave to support Indian-registered A320-family aircraft across the four engine types without an engine-specific restriction under the approval.

The expanded scope could also support lessors and operators managing mixed A320-family fleets, particularly during aircraft transitions between Indian and international operators.

For TARMAC Aerosave, the approval adds India-registered aircraft to the customer base that can be supported through its Tarbes operations, strengthening its offering across aircraft storage, maintenance and transition programmes.
