Setna iO acquires first-run CFM56-5B4/3 engine

Setna iO has acquired a first-run CFM56-5B4/3 engine previously operated by Air Cairo, adding an asset with substantial remaining module life and high-value core hardware to its engine inventory.

The engine has 11,000 cycles remaining on its Fan & Booster and Bearing Support modules, along with 6,000 cycles on its Low-Pressure Turbine module. It also contains core hardware that the company describes as increasingly difficult to source.

Setna iO plans to retain the Fan & Booster, Bearing Support, and Low-Pressure Turbine modules in assembled condition to support faster and more cost-effective engine shop visits for customers.

“We have elected to keep the Fan & Booster, Bearing Support, and Low-Pressure Turbine modules assembled to give our customers more affordable and quicker shop visit solutions,” said Abhijeet Dey, Senior Vice President of Asset Management, Setna iO.

The acquisition also adds access to components that may be difficult to obtain through the existing supply chain, supporting maintenance requirements across the CFM56 fleet.

“Core hardware like this is hard to find, and it strengthens our ability to support operators across the global CFM56 fleet. We continue to invest in strategically selected assets that create measurable value for our airline and MRO partners worldwide,” Dey added.
