Safran expands aerospace electrical manufacturing capacity in Morocco

Safran Electrical & Power has inaugurated a 5,700-square-metre extension at its Témara site in Morocco, expanding production capacity for electrical harnesses and equipment used across civil and military aerospace programmes.

The extension brings the facility’s total surface area to 31,400 square metres and marks 20 years since the site’s inauguration in 2006. The investment supports increasing production requirements across major aerospace programmes and strengthens Safran’s global industrial network.

The Témara facility manufactures nearly 93,000 electrical harnesses annually for programmes including the Airbus A320 and A350 families, Airbus Helicopters aircraft and the H160 helicopter. With more than 1,600 employees, the site produces electrical connectivity solutions and equipment for the aerospace industry.

The facility’s expanded capacity is intended to support the ramp-up of civil and military programmes, while reinforcing its role in Safran Electrical & Power’s interconnection systems business. Electrical harnesses and connectivity equipment are critical to aircraft electrical and electronic systems, making manufacturing quality and reliability important throughout the aircraft lifecycle.

Serge Pons, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Interconnection Systems Eurasia at Safran Electrical & Power, said, “This anniversary and this new extension demonstrate the confidence Safran has placed in Morocco and its talent for the past twenty years. Thanks to the commitment of our teams, the Témara site has become an essential part of our industrial network. This new milestone will enable us to support the growth of our activities and prepare for the challenges of tomorrow’s aerospace industry”.

Safran’s presence in Morocco began expanding through the integration of Gespec into the group in 2005, followed by the inauguration of the Témara plant in 2006. Subsequent expansions have supported growing production volumes and the introduction of new aerospace programmes.

For the MRO sector, the expansion highlights the importance of electrical connectivity and component manufacturing within the wider aircraft support ecosystem. Increased production capacity can help support aircraft programme requirements, although the announcement does not specify any new repair or overhaul capabilities at the site.

The investment reinforces Safran’s long-term commitment to Morocco’s aerospace industry and its role in supplying electrical systems for global aircraft programmes.
