Qatar Airways has selected Veryon Defect Analysis to strengthen defect management across its widebody fleet, introducing an analytics tool designed to identify recurring technical issues and support more proactive maintenance decisions.
The software uses artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing to identify repeat defects, including cases where logbook descriptions or ATA coding differ. According to Veryon, the system can flag recurring issues from the second occurrence, helping engineering teams identify patterns earlier and determine appropriate corrective actions.
The technology is intended to help Qatar Airways reduce unnecessary parts replacements, limit aircraft downtime, and improve operational efficiency by identifying repeat defects before they lead to further maintenance disruptions.
Veryon Defect Analysis will integrate with the airline’s existing maintenance technology environment. Qatar Airways is also working to improve data quality and ATA coding accuracy in its maintenance systems, with Veryon’s software designed to standardize defect information and support more consistent trend analysis.
For maintenance teams, identifying recurring defects can help distinguish isolated faults from persistent technical problems, supporting troubleshooting and more targeted maintenance interventions. Earlier identification may also help reduce repeat work and improve aircraft availability.

Veryon CEO Bethany Little said the selection reflects the airline’s focus on using operational data to improve reliability and manage maintenance costs.
The deployment forms part of Qatar Airways’ broader effort to develop a more data-driven maintenance approach across its widebody operations. The company has not disclosed the fleet size covered by the deployment or a timeline for implementation.
