Piaggio Aerospace marks 40 years, P.180 Avanti

Piaggio Aerospace is marking 40 years of the P.180 Avanti, with more than 270 aircraft sold across the family and continued investment in support for the in-service fleet.

The P.180 first flew in 1986, with the aircraft subsequently developed through several generations. The latest Avanti EVO, introduced in 2015, has now passed 40 aircraft sold and operates in business aviation, government and special-mission roles worldwide.

The P.180 family has accumulated more than 270 aircraft sales across all variants, with the design retaining its distinctive three-lift-surface configuration through successive upgrades.

Piaggio Aerospace is also expanding its aftermarket support for Avanti I, II and EVO operators, with the focus on maintaining aircraft throughout their service lives.

“The P.180’s story began with the courage to challenge established ideas. Four decades later, that pioneering spirit continues to define the aircraft,” said Cristian Toninelli, CEO of Piaggio Aerospace. “We are celebrating not only what the P.180 has achieved, but also what comes next.”

The company is also developing the Avanti NX, which will introduce a new flight deck, interior, and connectivity systems while retaining the P.180 platform.

The combination of continued fleet support and the planned NX upgrade is intended to extend the P.180 family into its fifth decade of operation.
