Pem-Air selects Ramco aviation to digitize engine MRO with AI

US-based engine MRO provider Pem-Air has selected Ramco Aviation Software as the digital backbone for its expanding engine maintenance business, signalling the growing shift toward AI-enabled shop floor operations as engine maintenance becomes increasingly complex.

The FAA and EASA-certified engine MRO and accessory repair specialist will deploy Ramco’s integrated platform across its operations as it expands support for larger engine platforms, including the GE90 and Rolls-Royce Trent 700, while strengthening capabilities for next-generation engines such as the CFM LEAP.

The implementation reflects a broader industry trend, with engine MRO providers investing in digital platforms to improve turnaround times, optimise workforce utilisation and manage increasingly data-intensive maintenance programmes.

Ramco’s platform will integrate maintenance planning, engine maintenance, supply chain, engineering, quality and compliance, and finance into a single operating environment, providing end-to-end visibility across every shop visit. The deployment also includes Ramco Anywhere mobile applications, enabling technicians to use digital task cards and electronic sign-offs as Pem-Air advances its paperless maintenance operations.

Beyond core maintenance functions, the software supports contract management, configuration management, work scoping, production planning, marshalling and kitting, technical publications, and resource optimisation to improve staffing and workload planning across engine shop operations.

A key element of the deployment is the introduction of AI-driven capabilities designed to streamline engineering and maintenance workflows. Ramco’s Service Bulletin Agent uses information from Service Bulletins and Airworthiness Directives to help generate Engineering Orders, while GenAI-powered assistants enable users to review operational reports and monitor real-time maintenance status. The platform can also recommend corrective actions for maintenance discrepancies based on historical repair data, helping technicians standardise decisions and accelerate troubleshooting.

Virgil Pizer, Chief Executive Officer of Pem-Air, said the company selected Ramco after evaluating platforms that could support its next phase of growth.

“As we scale our engine MRO capabilities, we needed a platform that could keep pace with that growth. Ramco stood out in our evaluation for its end-to-end lifecycle coverage, deep engine MRO expertise, and strong credibility in the US market.”

Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief Customer Officer – Aviation, Aerospace & Defense at Ramco Systems, said AI has become central to modern MRO operations by helping organisations reduce turnaround times and improve operational efficiency.

The announcement highlights a wider transformation underway across the engine aftermarket, where digitalisation is evolving beyond paperless workflows toward AI-assisted maintenance planning, engineering decision support and predictive operational management as MRO providers respond to rising shop visit volumes and increasingly sophisticated engine technologies.
