Lufthansa Technik and Japan Airlines (JAL) have renewed their Total Component Support (TCS) agreement for the airline’s Boeing 787 fleet, extending their long-standing MRO partnership in the Asia-Pacific region.
Signed during MRO Asia-Pacific in Singapore, the renewed agreement will run for at least five additional years and no later than 2036, covering up to 67 Boeing 787 aircraft. The expanded contract includes additional part-number coverage, broadening the range of components supported by Lufthansa Technik.
Under the TCS agreement, Lufthansa Technik will continue to provide component maintenance, reliability management and logistics services for JAL’s Dreamliner fleet. The support package also gives JAL access to Lufthansa Technik’s global spare-parts pool, supporting component availability and operational reliability.

Alongside the TCS renewal, the companies have signed a new five-year agreement covering exclusive support for Boeing 787 GEnx-1B engine thrust reversers and inlet cowls. Spare and repair services under the contract will be provided by Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen (LTS), further expanding the facility’s cooperation with JAL.
The relationship between Lufthansa Technik and JAL spans nearly two decades. Their first Boeing 787 TCS agreement was signed in 2011, while support has since expanded to include an Airbus A350 TCS agreement in 2018 and an A350 APU MRO agreement in 2019.
Lufthansa Technik also provides Single Component Maintenance support for JAL’s Boeing fleet and Airframe Related Component support through LTS, with the latter relationship dating back to 2007.
The latest agreements extend the companies’ component and engine-support activities as JAL continues to operate and maintain its Boeing 787 fleet.
