L3Harris Technologies has received an approximately $60 million contract from the US Air Force to continue production of its DSU-43/B Cockpit Selectable Height of Burst Sensors (C-HOBS).
The sensors provide radar-guided proximity sensing and allow aircrews to select the height at which the associated munition is triggered. The system supports both manual and cockpit-selectable burst-height settings.
Production of the C-HOBS sensors will take place at L3Harris’ facility in Cincinnati, Ohio, where the company is increasing its proximity fuze and sensor manufacturing capacity.
The contract forms part of L3Harris’ efforts to expand production capacity for proximity fuze and sensing systems to meet increased US military demand.
Scott Alexander, President, Propulsion Systems, Missile Solutions at L3Harris, said, “C-HOBS is an important part of ensuring warfighters have modern, reliable, and adaptable capabilities. As we continue to increase production capacity to support a wartime footing, L3Harris’ long history of fuzing innovation ensures we are ready to meet our customers’ needs today and into the future.”

The DSU-43/B production work involves radar-guided sensing technology and associated electronic systems, requiring manufacturing, testing, and quality-control processes for the completed sensors.
The additional production capacity will expand L3Harris’ ability to manufacture proximity fuze and sensor systems at its Cincinnati site.
