IndiGo reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 1,879.1 crore for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027, narrowing its loss from Rs 2,582.1 crore in the corresponding quarter a year earlier. Despite the improvement, elevated aviation fuel costs and rupee depreciation continued to weigh on the airline’s financial performance.
IndiGo CEO Willie Walsh described the quarter as seasonally soft, citing exceptionally high fuel costs and geopolitical uncertainty as additional challenges for the airline.
The financial results coincided with a decline in passenger traffic and operating capacity. IndiGo’s available seat kilometres (ASKs), a measure of passenger capacity, fell 1% year-on-year to 40.8 billion during the quarter. Passenger numbers declined 4.7% to 27.5 million compared with the same period last year.
The airline expects capacity, measured in ASKs, to increase at a low single-digit rate in the December quarter. Its stated priorities remain cost discipline, safe and reliable operations, and measured capacity expansion.

For the aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sector, IndiGo’s operating trends are relevant because fleet utilisation and capacity plans influence aircraft maintenance scheduling, component demand and the timing of maintenance events. However, the reported financial results alone do not establish a change in the airline’s MRO spending or maintenance strategy.
Although the narrower net loss indicates an improvement from the year-ago period, fuel prices and currency movements remain significant financial pressures. IndiGo’s planned capacity growth in the December quarter will be an important indicator of how its operations evolve as it balances cost management with demand and network requirements.
