HAECO has signed a new agreement with Air India to deliver technical ground handling and line maintenance services at Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), reinforcing the long-standing partnership between the two aviation companies.
Under the three-year contract, HAECO will provide line maintenance support for Air India’s wide-body fleet, including the Boeing 777, Boeing 787, and Airbus A350 aircraft. The agreement will run through 2029 and aims to ensure reliable operational support as Air India expands its services in the Chinese market.

Gerald Steinhoff, Chief Commercial Officer at HAECO, said the partnership marks the continuation of a relationship that spans more than a decade. He noted that HAECO’s extensive operational network and more than 75 years of MRO experience position the company to support Air India’s growing operations while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Sisirakanta Dash, Chief Technical Officer of Air India, highlighted the strategic importance of Shanghai Pudong International Airport in the airline’s expanding China network. He added that HAECO’s regional presence and technical capabilities would help ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the airline’s wide-body fleet.
HAECO previously supported Air India with base maintenance inputs and non-technical transit flight assistance in Hong Kong and began providing technical support services at PVG in 2014. These services were paused in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but have resumed following the return of Air India’s scheduled flights to Shanghai in February.
Headquartered in Hong Kong, HAECO operates across Hong Kong, mainland China, Europe and the United States, offering a full range of MRO services covering airframes, components and engines. The company currently supports more than 140 airlines worldwide through a network of 19-line maintenance stations across Hong Kong and mainland China.
