HAECO and Japan Airlines have extended their base maintenance agreement in Xiamen through 2033, covering JAL’s Boeing and Airbus fleet and more than 180 planned aircraft inputs.
The agreement covers Boeing 737, 767, 777, and 787, as well as Airbus A350 aircraft. HAECO and JAL have worked together in Xiamen for more than 20 years, completing more than 430 aircraft inputs to date.
The partnership expanded to the A350 in 2025, when HAECO Xiamen inducted its first JAL A350 for base maintenance.
JAL will continue using HAECO’s Xiamen capabilities as the MRO provider prepares to move operations to its new maintenance base at Xiang’an International Airport by the end of 2026.
“HAECO has been a trusted and highly valued partner to JAL over many years, delivering tailored solutions that support both our widebody and narrowbody fleets through a comprehensive range of technical and operational services,” said Takashi Hamamoto, Executive Officer, Senior Vice President, Engineering & Maintenance Division of JAL.
HAECO’s new Xiang’an facility is scheduled to enter service by the end of 2026 and has received LEED Platinum certification. The facility is described as the world’s largest single-span hangar and will add further capacity for aircraft maintenance.

“We are proud of the longstanding relationship we have built with JAL. For more than 20 years, our Xiamen facility has supported its fleet, earning the trust that has enabled our collaboration to grow beyond base maintenance to include line maintenance services in Hong Kong,” said Gerald Steinhoff, Chief Commercial Officer of HAECO.
JAL is also a shareholder of HAECO Xiamen and a joint venture partner in HAECO’s planned maintenance facility at Van Don International Airport in Vietnam, which is scheduled to begin operations in 2028.
