Emirates NBD has provided a bilateral capital expenditure term loan to TIM Aerospace to finance the construction and launch of a new aircraft maintenance facility at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), Dubai South.
The financing supports the development of what TIM Aerospace describes as a major independent aircraft MRO facility within the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub, expanding aircraft maintenance capacity in the UAE.
The project is also aligned with Dubai’s long-term development plans for Al Maktoum International Airport and the broader development of Dubai South as an aerospace and engineering hub.
The facility includes an 18,000-square-metre fully climate-controlled, single-span aircraft hangar, with a total built-up area of nearly 26,000 square metres. The hangar is designed to accommodate up to 12 narrowbody aircraft or five widebody aircraft simultaneously, with maintenance capability planned for a range of Boeing and Airbus aircraft.
The wider facility includes approximately 8,000 square metres of workshops, warehouses and office space.
Its technical infrastructure includes 12 aircraft hangar doors, four overhead cranes and seven in-floor service pits, supporting aircraft maintenance and engineering activities.
Once operational, the facility is expected to increase aircraft maintenance capacity in the UAE and support airlines operating across the region. The project is also expected to help operators reduce aircraft turnaround times as additional local MRO capacity becomes available. TIM Aerospace said the development will contribute to skilled employment and strengthen the country’s aerospace supply chain as operations expand at DWC.
Ahmed Al Qassim, Group Head of Wholesale Banking at Emirates NBD, said the bank’s financing of the facility reflects its focus on supporting strategic aviation infrastructure and strengthening the UAE’s industrial capabilities.
According to Al Qassim, the facility will expand local aircraft maintenance capacity, contribute to the resilience of the aviation ecosystem and support the UAE’s longer-term economic development.
Timor Shah Shahab, Chairman of TIM Aerospace, said the agreement with Emirates NBD represents the beginning of a long-term partnership aimed at developing the MRO business at Al Maktoum International Airport.

The financing provides TIM Aerospace with capital to develop its planned MRO infrastructure as the company works towards establishing an independent maintenance platform at DWC.
With the combination of new hangar infrastructure and financing support from Emirates NBD, the project represents an investment in additional aircraft maintenance capacity at a time when Dubai is continuing to develop Al Maktoum International Airport and its surrounding aerospace cluster.
