CALC agrees to sell three aircraft to buyers in China and Japan

China Aircraft Leasing Group (CALC) has agreed to separate transactions to sell three aircraft, comprising two Boeing 737-800s and one Airbus A321neo, as the lessor continues to actively manage its aircraft portfolio through asset sales.

The two Boeing 737-800s will be sold to Chongqing Yangtze River No.1 Aircraft Leasing, a subsidiary of Yangtze River Finance Leasing and ultimately controlled by Fang Wei. CALC agreed to the transactions on September 30 through two wholly owned special purpose vehicles.

The 737-800 transactions are expected to close by November 30, 2026.

In a separate transaction signed on October 2, another CALC special purpose vehicle agreed to sell an Airbus A321-271NX to Japan-based Sojitz Corporation. Completion of the A321neo sale is expected by December 31, 2026.

CALC said the three disposals form part of its ordinary aircraft trading activities and are expected to generate aircraft trading income. The transactions support the lessor’s ongoing portfolio management strategy, which includes both aircraft acquisitions and disposals.

The aircraft sales involve independent third-party buyers and qualify as aircraft leasing activities under Hong Kong listing rules. The transactions triggered disclosure requirements after the applicable transaction ratios exceeded 5% but remained below 25%.

CALC did not disclose the financial value of the transactions, aircraft registration details, or information on any existing leases associated with the aircraft.

The disposals highlight CALC’s continued use of aircraft trading as part of its portfolio management strategy, allowing the lessor to recycle capital and adjust its fleet holdings.
