ATS appoints Randy Mengel as CEO and Isaias Gomez as CFO to drive PT6A MRO growth

Airforce Turbine Service (ATS), a global aviation services company specialising in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of the PT6A turboprop engine family, has appointed Randy Mengel as Chief Executive Officer and Isaias Gomez as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately.

Mengel brings more than 35 years of experience across the aerospace and defence sectors, with a focus on engine overhaul operations, business growth and capability expansion. He most recently served as Senior Vice President of the Engine Division at Regional One.

Previously, Mengel was Chief Operating Officer of CTS Engines, where he launched GP7200 and F117 MRO programmes supporting the Airbus A380 and C-17 Globemaster III. During a 12-year tenure at StandardAero, he doubled revenue at its Maryville operations, expanded shop capabilities and led engine programmes including the Rolls-Royce AE-1107 and AE-2100, which power the V-22 Osprey and C-130J.

At ATS, Mengel will focus on strengthening operational performance, expanding the company’s aftermarket platform and increasing its global MRO capabilities for PT6A operators.

Gomez joins ATS as CFO with more than 25 years of financial leadership experience spanning aerospace, aviation MRO, and international operations. Most recently, he served as CFO of Citadel Completions, where he supported strategic planning, capital allocation, organic growth, and acquisition integration as the company expanded its VVIP interiors and MRO business.

His previous roles include senior finance positions at AMETEK, where he led finance for an aerospace division covering 11 manufacturing and MRO facilities. He also held a finance leadership role at Fairmount Santrol, overseeing a $400 million division through its initial public offering. Gomez began his career with Diamond Offshore Drilling, including leadership assignments in South Africa and Malaysia.

Mengel and Gomez will work alongside Rob Wilson, Executive Chairman of ATS and industry partner at McNally Capital. Wilson has served as Interim CEO and Executive Chairman since McNally Capital’s acquisition of ATS in December 2025 and will continue to support the company’s strategic direction in that role.

ATS is developing an independent global aviation services platform covering engine overhaul, maintenance and AOG field repair. Its PT6A centre of excellence is based in Mathis, Texas, supported by maintenance centres in Malaysia and South Africa and a sales office in Guatemala.

The company’s growth strategy includes expanding its coverage across PT6 variants, increasing international capabilities and adding accessory, component and specialised repair services to its network.

ATS also plans to pursue acquisitions aimed at strengthening repair capabilities, expanding alternative parts options and broadening its coverage of mature engine platforms.
