Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) has signed a long-term agreement with Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB) to provide comprehensive component support for the airline’s Airbus A350 fleet.
Malaysia Airlines operates the A350 aircraft within the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) fleet. The agreement expands an existing relationship between the airline and AFI KLM E&M, which already includes component support for Malaysia Airlines’ Boeing 737 fleet.
Under the new agreement, AFI KLM E&M will provide component support tailored to the airline’s operational requirements, with the aim of maintaining aircraft availability and supporting fleet operations.
A350 component support
The agreement covers component support for Malaysia Airlines’ A350 fleet, adding the widebody aircraft to the existing Boeing 737 support programme.
AFI KLM E&M brings A350 maintenance experience from Air France’s own operation of the aircraft type, as well as component support programmes for other A350 operators.
This operational and MRO experience provides AFI KLM E&M with knowledge of A350 component requirements, maintenance planning and fleet support.
Aida Salfaraz Ahmad Fadzil, Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia Airlines, said the agreement will support operational efficiency and component availability as the group operates a growing fleet of new-generation aircraft.
“This new agreement with AFI KLM E&M underscores our commitment to driving operational efficiency while upholding the highest standards of safety and reliability across the MAG’s fleet. As we operate a growing fleet of new-generation aircraft, having access to responsive and reliable component support is essential to maintaining operational performance. We are confident that AFI KLM E&M’s technical expertise will further strengthen the reliability and performance of our aircraft”, highlighted Fadzil.
Existing MRO relationship expands
The A350 agreement builds on the existing support relationship between the two companies, including ongoing work covering Malaysia Airlines’ Boeing 737 fleet.
For AFI KLM E&M, the agreement adds another A350 operator to its component-support portfolio while expanding its role within Malaysia Airlines’ wider fleet support structure.
Martijn de Vries, Senior Vice President Commercial at AFI KLM E&M, said the company’s experience as an A350 operator through Air France provides additional operational knowledge for supporting the Malaysia Airlines fleet.

“We are very pleased to extend our partnership with Malaysia Airlines to support their A350 fleet. This agreement reflects the confidence MAB places in our teams and our ability to provide reliable and customer-focused component support. As an A350 operator ourselves, we understand the operational requirements associated with this aircraft and look forward to bringing this experience to our long-term partnership with Malaysia Airlines”, stated Vries.
The agreement further expands AFI KLM E&M’s A350 component support activities in the Asia-Pacific market while giving Malaysia Airlines dedicated component support for its widebody fleet.
