HAECO extends Boeing 777 landing gear support for Cathay

HAECO and Cathay are continuing their long-standing landing gear maintenance partnership, with HAECO Landing Gear Services providing overhaul and exchange support for Cathay’s Boeing 777-300ER fleet.

The agreement builds on a collaboration that began in 2010, when HAECO’s Xiamen facility completed its first Boeing 747 landing gear overhaul for Cathay. Since then, the partnership has expanded to cover the Boeing 747-400, 747-400ERF, 777-300ER and 777-300 fleets, with more than 200 landing gear deliveries completed to date.

“Cathay has been a valued partner of HAECO for many years. This landing gear overhaul programme reflects the confidence built through consistent performance and close collaboration, as well as our shared commitment to safety and operational excellence. We look forward to supporting the reliability and performance of Cathay’s Boeing 777 fleet in the years ahead,” said Gerald Steinhoff, Chief Commercial Officer at HAECO Group.

The latest agreement will support the reliability and operational performance of Cathay’s Boeing 777-300ER fleet, which serves the airline’s long-haul network. The exchange and overhaul arrangement provides access to specialist landing gear maintenance while supporting component availability and maintenance planning.

“Cathay and HAECO have built a trusted partnership over the years, and we are pleased to continue this long-standing collaboration on our Boeing 777 landing gear programme. Beyond the core services, we value the broader support and customer care that come with HAECO Landing Gear Services being part of the HAECO Group. This agreement provides important overhaul and exchange support while maintaining the high standards of safety, quality and operational performance that our operation depends on. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership in the years ahead”, said Keith Brown, Director Engineering at Cathay.

HAECO’s integrated support model connects its base maintenance facilities in Hong Kong and Xiamen with HAECO Landing Gear Services, which performs the overhaul work. This coordination allows landing gear replacement during aircraft maintenance to be linked with specialist shop services, helping streamline maintenance workflows, manage logistics costs and improve spare landing gear rotation.

The agreement reinforces HAECO’s role in providing component MRO support for Cathay’s widebody fleet and extends a partnership that has delivered more than 200 landing gear units to date.
