StandardAero consolidates PT6A engine MRO operations at Dallas-Fort Worth facility

StandardAero has completed the transfer of its PT6A engine maintenance operations from Grapevine, Texas, to its main campus at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), expanding maintenance capacity and introducing additional support capabilities for operators.

The consolidation will allow StandardAero to continue providing heavy maintenance services for Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A engines while offering greater capacity, on-site test cell support, and US duty-free import benefits through the facility’s foreign trade zone (FTZ) status. The company also plans to introduce full overhaul capability at the DFW facility in 2027.

Giovanni Spitale, President of StandardAero Business Aviation, said the operational shift is intended to improve customer service by expanding capabilities and optimizing engine maintenance turnaround times.

StandardAero said customers previously served by the Grapevine facility have already begun sending their PT6A engines to DFW. The company will continue to provide support through its OEM-trained technicians, technical teams, and engineering expertise.

Joe Capra, StandardAero Vice President of Commercial Programs, said the transition maintains existing service standards while improving efficiency and helping operators return aircraft to service safely.

StandardAero has supported the PT6A engine programme for more than 60 years, beginning with the establishment of an independent Pratt & Whitney Canada-authorized maintenance facility in Dallas through a previously acquired business, Dallas Airmotive.

The PT6A family powers a broad range of turboprop aircraft, with more than 21,000 engines in service worldwide across over 14,000 aircraft. StandardAero supports multiple PT6A engine variants through its global maintenance network.

The company is a Pratt & Whitney Canada designated overhaul facility (DOF) for PT6A engines in Dallas; Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada; Gonesse, France; Johannesburg, South Africa; and Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Additional support is available through regional turbine centres and StandardAero’s Mobile Service Team.

The consolidation strengthens the company’s Dallas operations as it prepares to introduce full PT6A overhaul services in 2027, adding to its existing global engine maintenance capabilities.
