Malta MedAir selects REDiFly eTechlog to digitise Airbus A320 fleet operations

Malta MedAir has signed a multi-year agreement with REDiFly to implement the REDiFly eTechlog across its Airbus A320 fleet, marking a significant step in the airline’s transition toward fully digital aircraft technical log management.

The cloud-native REDiFly eTechlog will replace traditional paper-based technical logs with a real-time digital platform, enabling flight operations and maintenance teams to access immediate updates on aircraft status, defects, and servicing data.

Operating under a Maltese Air Operator Certificate (AOC), Malta MedAir provides ACMI, charter, and ad-hoc services across Europe and the Mediterranean. The airline said the adoption of the digital technical log solution is expected to streamline operational workflows and improve data accuracy by reducing manual handovers between pilots, engineers, and maintenance personnel.

The system allows crew members and engineers to create and sign technical log entries offline when necessary, with automatic synchronisation once internet connectivity is restored. Real-time defect and servicing information will also be available to maintenance control and flight operations teams, supporting faster operational decision-making.

As part of the deployment, the REDiFly eTechlog will integrate with Malta MedAir’s existing operational platforms, including Veryon for maintenance management and Leon for scheduling. The integration is intended to reduce duplicate data entry and maintain consistency across operational systems.

Implementation activities are already underway and include configuration workshops, document handovers, and a combination of virtual and in-person training sessions. The airline is targeting full paperless operational authorisation by the third quarter of 2026, supported through phased rollout activities and regular project reviews.

Malta MedAir is also preparing to submit its approval application to the Transport Malta Civil Aviation Directorate. REDiFly is assisting the carrier by providing compliance documentation, approval checklists, and consultation support based on previous European regulatory approvals.

“Moving to a digital technical log is an important step for our operation. The REDiFly eTechlog supports the way we operate today, particularly in time-critical ACMI and charter environments, while giving our flight and maintenance teams clearer visibility of aircraft status across the network,” said Keith Abela.

Patrick Clancy added, “Malta MedAir operates in a highly dynamic environment where accurate, real-time technical information is essential. The eTechlog is designed to support exactly this type of operation, giving operators better control over technical data while reducing administrative overhead and dependency on paper-based processes.”
