Magnetic MRO prepares Austrian Airlines’ new A320neo Cabin for service

Magnetic MRO has completed a 25-day cabin and aircraft preparation programme on Austrian Airlines’ brand-new Airbus A320neo OE-LXF, ahead of its entry into scheduled passenger service.

Delivered directly from the Airbus factory to Magnetic MRO’s facility in Tallinn, the A320neo underwent a series of cabin-related adjustments and installations to bring the aircraft in line with Austrian Airlines’ operational and fleet standards.

A key part of the programme was the installation of Starlink’s in-flight Wi-Fi system, adding high-speed connectivity to the aircraft before it entered passenger operations. The work required coordination between Magnetic MRO’s cabin, avionics, interior, and supporting maintenance teams.

From a cabin maintenance perspective, the project highlights the work required to transition a newly delivered aircraft from production configuration to an airline-specific operational standard. While the aircraft was factory-new, its cabin still required adjustments and equipment integration to meet the operator’s requirements before entering service.

Magnetic MRO’s interior teams, supported by its composite and other specialist workshops, contributed to the preparation programme. The work demonstrates how cabin maintenance and modification capabilities can play an important role even before an aircraft completes its first scheduled passenger flight.

For Austrian Airlines, the decision to route the aircraft through Magnetic MRO was supported by the companies’ existing relationship. The carrier described Magnetic MRO as a long-standing partner familiar with its requirements.

The A320neo’s preparation also underscores the growing role of cabin systems and passenger-facing technology in new-aircraft induction programmes. With Starlink connectivity installed before its first scheduled flight, OE-LXF is set to enter service with both its cabin configuration and onboard connectivity aligned with Austrian Airlines’ operating requirements.
