PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk (GMF) and FTAI Aviation have expanded their relationship through a strategic collaboration to increase engine and APU maintenance capacity and capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region.
The partnership was formalised during MRO Asia-Pacific 2026 at Singapore EXPO and will initially cover CFM56-5B and CFM56-7B engines, along with GTCP131-9 series auxiliary power units (APUs). The agreement includes guaranteed maintenance capacity for FTAI over the next five years.
GMF already provides engine maintenance services to FTAI, and the expanded collaboration is intended to provide a platform for progressively developing deeper module and piece-part repair capabilities. The companies also plan to explore support for next-generation engines, including the CFM LEAP family.
Under the collaboration, FTAI will provide technical expertise and training support to complement GMF’s existing workforce and technical capabilities. GMF will leverage its established facilities, qualified technicians and engineers, quality systems, tooling and equipment to support the additional workload.

The agreement is also expected to strengthen the engine MRO supply chain by improving access to materials, spare parts and components. This could support greater parts availability, cost efficiency and improved maintenance turnaround times for FTAI customers in the region.
For FTAI, securing dedicated maintenance capacity at GMF is intended to bring engine MRO services closer to its growing Asia-Pacific customer base. The companies expect the arrangement to support faster turnaround times while creating opportunities to expand CFM56 module and piece-part repair capabilities.
The additional workload is also expected to support GMF’s expansion of its engine maintenance business, including workforce development and further capability growth.
Looking ahead, the collaboration provides a framework for GMF to become a regional MRO partner for FTAI and its customers across Asia-Pacific. The companies will also explore opportunities to broaden their cooperation beyond the current engine and APU maintenance scope.
The partnership focuses on addressing key aftermarket requirements, including maintenance slot availability, turnaround times, consistent quality, and greater flexibility, while supporting the development of a competitive engine MRO platform in the region.
