GD Helicopter Finance (GDHF) has secured financing worth more than €125 million from Helaba Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen and BayernLB, supported by BpiFrance Assurance Export, to fund the acquisition of multiple factory-new Airbus H175 and H160 helicopters.
The financing facility will support GDHF’s helicopter acquisitions during 2026 and 2027 as the company expands its portfolio of new-generation, multi-mission rotorcraft for customers in global markets.
The facility has already been used to finance GDHF’s acquisition of an Airbus H160 in September 2026. In addition, Helaba and BayernLB have committed to financing multiple new Leonardo AW189 helicopters, scheduled for delivery in 2027.
The H175 and H160 are expected to add new-generation platforms to GDHF’s portfolio, supporting applications across multiple helicopter missions and markets.
For the wider helicopter aftermarket, the introduction of additional factory-new aircraft will also drive requirements for maintenance, component support, technical services and other lifecycle support as the fleet enters operational service.
GDHF CEO Michael York said the financing facility will strengthen the company’s ability to regularly acquire factory-new helicopters and provide multi-mission aircraft solutions to its global customer base.
The transaction also reflects continued financial-sector support for helicopter fleet expansion. Helaba acted as Lead Arranger, Facility Agent and Security Trustee, while BayernLB served as Lead Arranger, with BpiFrance providing support.
Helaba and BayernLB also highlighted the transaction as part of their respective efforts to expand their helicopter finance activities.
GDHF was advised by Watson Farley & Williams, while Helaba and BayernLB were advised by Norton Rose Fulbright.
