The two companies have held discussions on the long-term development of Dresden as an aviation hub, with the talks focused on infrastructure required to support EFW’s operations and expansion at the airport.
A key area under consideration is aircraft parking and apron capacity, particularly to accommodate future requirements associated with widebody aircraft programmes. EFW’s activities include work on aircraft such as the Airbus A380 and A330, making adequate ramp and parking space an important consideration for its planned development.
The companies intend to identify and align EFW’s infrastructure requirements with potential changes to Dresden Airport at an early stage. This approach is intended to ensure that future airport infrastructure can support the company’s operational needs as its programmes develop.
The discussions will also include closer coordination in the military aviation sector, broadening the scope of cooperation beyond EFW’s commercial aircraft activities.
For an MRO provider, additional apron and parking capacity can support aircraft inductions, positioning and movement associated with heavy maintenance, modification and conversion programmes. The infrastructure planning is therefore linked to EFW’s ability to accommodate larger aircraft and manage increasing programme requirements at its Dresden site.
EFW CEO Jordi Boto said Dresden Airport was an important factor in the company’s development and that support from Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG would provide greater planning certainty for its long-term goals.

Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG CEO Götz Ahmelmann said EFW was an important industrial company and employer at Dresden Airport and that the airport operator supported the company’s future plans.
The two organisations will continue working together to define infrastructure requirements and incorporate them into future airport development planning.
