Contrail Aviation Support appoints Stuart Weinroth as CEO

Contrail Aviation Support, a provider of commercial jet engine trading, leasing, and used serviceable material (USM) solutions, has appointed Stuart G. Weinroth as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding company founder Joe Kuhn.

Contrail, a business unit of Air T, Inc., said the appointment builds on the 26-year foundation established by Kuhn and Miriam Cohen-Kuhn, who founded the company in 2000 and developed it into a recognised provider in narrowbody engine and aircraft trading.

Weinroth will lead Contrail as the company continues to expand its position in the commercial aviation aftermarket, supported by its established team and customer and partner network.

Weinroth brings more than 30 years of experience across the commercial aviation asset lifecycle, having worked across airline operations, aircraft and engine leasing, and aviation supply.

He joins Contrail from Air Transport Services Group (ATSG), where he served as Global Head and Vice President of Commercial Operations and Acquisitions. During his tenure, he was involved in the expansion of ATSG’s freighter and engine portfolio.

Earlier in his career, Weinroth held senior investment and executive finance positions at Metolius Aviation Capital, GA Telesis, GMT Global Republic Aviation and Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings. His experience spans aircraft and engine trading, leasing and capital markets across Boeing and Airbus platforms.

Contrail has built its business around commercial jet engine trading, leasing and USM solutions, supporting airlines, MRO providers and other participants across the aviation aftermarket.

The company’s narrowbody engine and aircraft trading activities provide customers with access to assets and material required throughout the commercial aviation lifecycle, while its USM business supports the component and engine aftermarket.

Weinroth said Contrail’s experienced team and reputation were key factors in his decision to join the company. He also highlighted the opportunity to build on the foundation established by the company’s founders while continuing to provide timely and high-quality services to customers and partners.

Contrail operates as part of Air T’s broader aviation portfolio, and Weinroth’s appointment is expected to support collaboration across the group’s aviation businesses.

Air T Chairman and CEO Nick Swenson said the company intends to build on Contrail’s established capabilities while providing the resources needed to support its continued development.

With the leadership transition, Contrail will retain the expertise of its existing team while adding Weinroth’s experience across aircraft and engine trading, leasing, acquisitions, and commercial aviation assets.

The appointment marks the next phase in Contrail’s development as it continues to support airlines, MROs and other aviation customers across the commercial aircraft and engine aftermarket.
