Biman Bangladesh Airlines has placed an order for 11 additional Boeing aircraft, comprising five 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8 jets, as the airline continues its fleet renewal programme.
The agreement is Biman’s second Boeing order of 2026. Combined with an earlier order for 14 Boeing 787 and 737 MAX aircraft announced in April, the airline’s order book now totals 25 aircraft from the two families.
Biman currently operates Boeing 787, 777 and 737 Next-Generation aircraft on its international network. The additional 737-8 and 787-10 aircraft will expand the airline’s Boeing fleet and increase commonality across its operations.
The 737-8 will provide additional capacity and range for Biman’s single-aisle network, while the 787-10 will complement the airline’s existing 787-8 and 787-9 fleet on longer routes.
“Today’s supplemental agreement is an important step in Biman’s ongoing fleet renewal and network expansion. This order responds to specific requirements in our fleet plan. Our team’s working relationship with Boeing over the years has given us confidence in the delivery and support arrangements,” said Rumee A Hossain, chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
The fleet expansion will also increase Biman’s future requirements for aircraft maintenance, component support, spare parts and technical services across the 737 and 787 fleets. Commonality with aircraft already operated by the airline can help reduce the need for additional fleet-specific maintenance infrastructure and training as the new aircraft enter service.

Boeing said the 787 and 737 MAX families offer improved fuel efficiency compared with the aircraft they replace, supporting Biman’s fleet modernisation plans.
The new aircraft will be delivered as part of Biman’s broader plan to increase fleet capacity and expand its international network.
