Avcon Industries, Inc., a subsidiary of Butler National Corporation, has delivered the first King Air B200 aircraft modified for specialised mosquito-control missions.
The aircraft modification combines Avcon’s engineering expertise with existing fluid-dispersal technology designed for large-area mosquito control. The system features a removable external under-fuselage pod, an electric pump, aerodynamic fairings and dispersal booms.
Marcus Abendroth, President of Avcon Industries, said the project demonstrates the company’s ability to integrate specialised mission systems into proven aircraft platforms to meet unique operational requirements.

The modified King Air B200 provides a flexible solution for rapid, large-scale mosquito mitigation and could support similar airborne dispersal missions for other operators. Avcon plans to carry out the same modification on additional aircraft.
Wayne Luettich, Aircraft Maintenance Manager for the Lee County Mosquito Control District, said mosquito control has become an important effort in Florida and expressed appreciation for Avcon’s engineering services and expertise.
The aircraft will support the Lee County Mosquito Control District’s efforts to reduce mosquito populations and mitigate their impact on local communities.
