Alleima extends Airbus partnership for titanium and stainless-steel tubes

Alleima has extended its long-standing partnership with Airbus under a new agreement covering the supply of titanium seamless tubes for aerospace applications. The agreement also expands on the company’s existing supply of stainless-steel tube products to Airbus.

Alleima has supplied aerospace-grade alloys and seamless tubes to the aviation and space sectors for more than 70 years. Its products are used in aircraft systems including hydraulics, oxygen lines and fuel systems, where material strength, weight and resistance to demanding operating conditions are key requirements.

The expanded agreement will increase Alleima’s contribution of titanium seamless tube solutions to Airbus aircraft programmes. Titanium is used in aerospace applications in part because of its low weight and strength, helping reduce component weight while maintaining required performance.

The company also continues to supply stainless steel tube solutions to Airbus. The materials are produced through Alleima’s manufacturing network in the US, Germany and China, with primary melting and hollow production supported by its integrated mill in Sandviken, Sweden.

Carl von Schantz, President of Alleima’s Tube division, said the extended agreement reflects the company’s role in supplying materials for critical aerospace applications and supporting Airbus’ supply chain requirements.

Phil Cherrie, President of Alleima’s Specialized business unit, said aerospace manufacturers require materials that can meet stringent specifications while maintaining consistent quality and production capacity over the long term.

For aircraft manufacturers and maintenance organisations, tubing is a critical part of systems such as hydraulic, fuel and oxygen circuits. Reliable supply of qualified materials is therefore relevant to aircraft production, component manufacturing and long-term fleet support.
