The Aerotec Group has strengthened its position in the European maintenance landscape through the acquisition of Global Aerotech d.o.o., marking a significant step in building an integrated aircraft lifecycle services platform.
With this strategic move, Aerotec is establishing a central European maintenance and aircraft transition hub at Rijeka Airport, positioning the facility as a key node in its expanding MRO and asset optimisation network.
The Rijeka site is being developed into a fully integrated hub combining aircraft storage, line and base maintenance, cabin refurbishment, reconfiguration, and teardown services. The development plan includes infrastructure upgrades and the addition of new hangar capacity to support a growing pipeline of maintenance and transition projects.

Strategically located in the heart of Europe, the facility offers scalable aircraft parking and a cost-efficient operating environment, factors that are increasingly critical for aircraft storage programmes, redelivery checks, and end-of-life asset strategies.
According to Frank Kusserow, the acquisition aligns with the Group’s broader objective of creating a customer-centric platform that integrates maintenance, transitions, and asset optimisation services under one umbrella. He emphasised that the Rijeka hub will enable Aerotec to consolidate multiple capabilities in a single location, improving operational efficiency and turnaround timelines for customers.
The airport’s infrastructure, including a 2,500-metre runway, 24-hour IFR capability, and the ability to handle a wide range of aircraft, including widebodies, provides a strong operational foundation for complex maintenance and transition programmes.
The expansion comes at a time when the global MRO sector continues to face supply chain disruptions and parts shortages, driving demand for integrated maintenance and asset transition solutions.
René Mamet highlighted that the Rijeka facility is designed as a scalable operational platform, combining line and base maintenance with direct access to component repair and support. This integration is expected to enable faster turnaround times and greater flexibility for operators and lessors navigating constrained maintenance environments.
At the same time, Aerotec is extending its line and base maintenance network across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa under a unified operational framework, ensuring compliance with global regulatory standards, including EASA Part-145 and Part-21, as well as FAA, UK CAA, and GCAA requirements.
With the addition of Global Aerotech, Aerotec now covers a broader portion of the aircraft lifecycle from component repair and material supply to base maintenance, aircraft transitions, and end-of-life solutions.
The Group’s integration with aviationscouts further enhances its capabilities, enabling access to a network of over 100,000 aircraft parts and strengthening material availability across its platform.
Looking ahead, the Rijeka hub will also incorporate AFRA-aligned dismantling and part-out operations, reinforcing Aerotec’s position in the growing segment of sustainable end-of-life aircraft services.
By establishing a centrally located, multi-capability hub, Aerotec is positioning itself to capture increasing demand from airlines, lessors, and asset managers seeking efficient, cost-effective solutions in a constrained and rapidly evolving global MRO environment.
