Smartwings has appointed new leadership following the completion of its acquisition by Pegasus Airlines, with Emre Pekesen named CEO and Nur Karabacak appointed CFO, effective October 1, 2026.
Pekesen joins Smartwings from Pegasus Airlines, where he has worked since 2010, initially serving as Sales Director. Since 2022, he has held the position of Group Director of Sales and Network Planning.
Karabacak joined Pegasus in 2018 as Investor Relations Manager and has served as Group Head of Budget, Reporting and Cost Control since 2019.
The appointments come immediately after Pegasus Airlines completed its acquisition of Smartwings Group, the Czech Republic’s largest carrier, on October 1.

Pegasus thanked both executives for their contributions to the airline and said it wished them success in their new roles at Smartwings.
The leadership changes mark the beginning of a new chapter for Smartwings under Pegasus ownership, as the two organisations move forward with their cooperation following the completion of the transaction.
