India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has appointed Kiran Thadimarri as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective July 28, as the carrier looks to strengthen financial leadership during a period of operational and strategic transition.
Thadimarri succeeds Gaurav Negi, who has been redesignated as Advisor to the Managing Director. Previously serving as IndiGo’s Deputy CFO, Thadimarri brings more than 24 years of experience across financial planning, treasury, capital raising, investor relations, taxation and business finance. A Chartered Accountant, he has held senior finance roles at InterGlobe Enterprises, Udaan, Genworks Health and General Electric.
The leadership transition comes at a challenging time for the airline. IndiGo recently reported its second consecutive quarterly loss and has projected largely flat capacity growth for the current quarter as rising aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices, elevated operating costs and supply chain constraints continue to weigh on profitability.
The appointment also forms part of a broader leadership transition within the airline following recent changes in its senior management. As IndiGo continues to pursue an ambitious fleet expansion and international growth strategy, maintaining financial discipline and investor confidence will remain a key priority.

Industry observers believe Thadimarri‘s elevation from within the organisation provides continuity at a time when the airline is balancing aircraft inductions, financing requirements and cost pressures. His familiarity with IndiGo’s financial framework is expected to support capital allocation, liquidity management and long-term growth planning without disrupting ongoing strategic initiatives.
While the appointment is unlikely to address the external challenges affecting airline profitability, including fuel price volatility and supply chain disruptions, it reinforces IndiGo’s focus on strengthening financial governance as it enters its next phase of expansion. For an airline with one of the world’s largest aircraft order books, disciplined financial execution will remain as critical as operational performance in sustaining future growth.
