Nomad Technics delivers upgraded BBJ with advanced cabin and connectivity enhancements

Nomad Technics has successfully redelivered a Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) to Action Aviation after completing a comprehensive maintenance programme that combined heavy airframe maintenance with extensive cabin modernisation and avionics upgrades.

The project included the aircraft’s scheduled 12-year inspection and landing gear overhaul, while taking advantage of the maintenance downtime to significantly enhance the passenger experience through a series of cabin refurbishment and digital connectivity upgrades.

One of the highlights of the project was the installation of the Gogo Galileo FDX satellite communication system, making the aircraft one of the first Boeing Business Jets worldwide to receive the latest-generation connectivity solution. The upgrade enables high-speed, reliable in-flight internet connectivity, reflecting the growing demand for seamless digital experiences in business aviation.

The cabin also underwent a complete interior refresh. Aviation interior specialist Aero Visto reupholstered all passenger seats and divans with a bespoke design tailored to the owner’s preferences, giving the aircraft a renewed premium look and feel.

To further modernise the cabin, Nomad Technics installed higher-resolution cabin monitors and upgraded the in-flight entertainment (IFE) system with a customised app-based video-on-demand streaming platform, allowing passengers to access entertainment directly through an intuitive digital interface.

The aircraft’s lighting system was also replaced with a new multi-colour LED mood lighting solution, which can be controlled through a dedicated mobile application, enabling passengers to personalise the cabin ambience during flight.

In addition, a new app-based moving map system was integrated, allowing passengers to track the aircraft’s journey in real time on both cabin displays and their personal devices.

Commenting on the project, Brigita Vildžiūnienė, Director of Sales at Nomad Technics, said the programme required close coordination between the maintenance provider and the aircraft owner.

“The project was interesting and challenging to put together, but I think that’s something that made us win because the client saw how quickly and efficiently we can do things. Our responsiveness, honesty and transparency built trust with the customer, and we carried that on throughout the project. They were involved in every stage, including the quotation phase. It was truly a collaborative effort,” she said.

The successful completion of the BBJ programme highlights a growing trend in business aviation, where operators are increasingly combining scheduled maintenance events with cabin refurbishment, connectivity upgrades and digital technology enhancements. Integrating these modifications during planned maintenance helps minimise aircraft downtime while extending cabin life and enhancing passenger comfort, connectivity and operational value.
