Hical Technologies, Safran Aerosystems sign MoU to explore Rafale Systems JV in India

Hical Technologies and French aerospace and defence company Safran Aerosystems have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore the creation of a joint venture in India for the manufacture of complex systems for the Dassault Rafale programme.

The proposed partnership would look at establishing local manufacturing capabilities for systems supporting the Rafale programme, further strengthening the aerospace manufacturing ecosystem in India.

The MoU brings together Bengaluru-based Hical Technologies and Safran Aerosystems, a Safran company specialising in aerospace systems and equipment. The proposed joint venture is expected to explore opportunities to manufacture complex systems for the Rafale programme within India.

The proposed collaboration comes as India continues to expand its domestic aerospace manufacturing capabilities and deepen industrial partnerships with global aerospace companies.

For the MRO and wider aftermarket ecosystem, increased localisation of complex aerospace systems could also contribute to the development of domestic capabilities in component manufacturing, engineering, supply-chain support and lifecycle services around the Rafale fleet.

The proposed JV remains subject to further discussions and the completion of the necessary processes and approvals.
