DRF Luftrettung and DRF Maintenance combine expertise to launch DRF Aviation Services

DRF Luftrettung and DRF Maintenance have combined their technical capabilities to establish DRF Aviation Services GmbH, a new full-service provider offering helicopter maintenance, modifications, design, production and lifecycle support.

The newly established company brings together more than 50 years of technical experience within the DRF Group, which operates one of Europe’s largest Airbus helicopter fleets. Positioned as a “one-stop shop” for helicopter operators, DRF Aviation Services aims to provide a broad range of technical services from a single source, with a focus on aircraft availability, reliability and innovation.

Operating under the motto “Ahead of Time,” the company is positioning itself as an innovation-focused technical partner for helicopter operators, with digitalisation and faster decision-making forming part of its approach to reducing aircraft downtime.

DRF Aviation Services’ portfolio covers a wide range of maintenance and technical support activities. The company provides Part-145 base and line maintenance, enabling it to support helicopters both at its maintenance facilities and in the field. Its capabilities also include Part-21 Design Organisation and Production Organisation services, supporting helicopter modifications, design and production-related requirements.

In addition, the company offers Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO) services, providing operators with support for the ongoing management of aircraft airworthiness.

Beyond maintenance and engineering, DRF Aviation Services supports customers with the purchase and sale of helicopters, production oversight and helicopter transfers. The company also maintains an extensive spare parts portfolio to support operational and maintenance requirements.

Roman Morka, CEO of DRF Aviation Services, said the new company brings the combined technical expertise of the DRF Group to customers beyond the organisation itself.

According to Morka, the company is already operating almost entirely digitally, with the objective of reducing the time helicopters spend on the ground and increasing their time in operation. Customers are expected to benefit from the Group’s experience, faster decision-making and the availability of multiple services through a single provider.

DRF Aviation Services operates 18 maintenance docks across three locations in Germany.

These include facilities at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport, Straubing and Wilhelmshaven, allowing the company to carry out helicopter maintenance and repair work at multiple locations and remain geographically close to customers.

The network also enables DRF Aviation Services to support operators from neighbouring European countries. Its fixed maintenance infrastructure is complemented by mobile line maintenance teams, which can provide technical support directly at customer locations.

This combination of base maintenance facilities and mobile line support is designed to give helicopter operators greater flexibility while reducing the operational impact of maintenance events.

The launch of DRF Aviation Services brings together maintenance, airworthiness, engineering, production and support capabilities under one organisation.

For helicopter operators, the integrated model is aimed at simplifying access to technical services while supporting aircraft availability throughout the lifecycle. The company’s experience within the DRF Group’s helicopter operations also provides a direct operational perspective on maintenance requirements and the importance of minimising aircraft downtime.

With its Part-145, Part-21 and CAMO capabilities, combined with spare parts, helicopter transaction support, production oversight and mobile maintenance services, DRF Aviation Services is establishing a broad technical support platform for the European helicopter market.
