Xiamen Airlines strengthens fleet with forty CFM LEAP-1A engines powered Airbus jets

Xiamen Airlines strengthens fleet with forty CFM LEAP-1A engines powered Airbus jets.
Manufacturers and airlines throughout the world of aircraft have acknowledged the LEAP engine since it went into service in 2016.

In comparison to previous generation engines, the modern CFM LEAP engine family for Xiamen Airlines offers 15–20 percent improved fuel usage, fewer CO2 emissions, and a noticeable drop in noise.

A deal was signed today by Xiamen Airlines and CFM International to buy LEAP-1A engines, along with spares, for the airline’s 15 A321neo and 25 A320neo aircraft. Additionally, a services contract for the carrier’s LEAP-1B and CFM56-7B fleets was signed by CFM International. Since Xiamen Airlines bought its first CFM56-powered Boeing 737-500 aircraft in 1992, the airline has been a CFM customer. CFM has been offering Xiamen Airlines installed and spare engines, together with servicing solutions, for the last thirty years. Currently, the airline has over 150 CFM-powered aircraft in service or on order.  Earlier in the year, Xiamen unveiled the first A321neo powered by LEAP-1A.

Dong Zhao, chairman of Xiamen Airlines said, “We have long-standing relationship with CFM and 100% of our fleet is powered by CFM and GE engines. Xiamen Airlines supports the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and has adopted sustainable development as one of our strategic priorities during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Joining hands again, we will continue to reduce fuel consumption, and fulfill our commitments to carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals through innovation, providing safe, comfortable and sustainable travel options to our passengers.”

Weiming Xiang, president of CFM International Greater China, said, “We highly value our long-term collaboration with Xiamen Airlines, and are delighted to enhance our cooperation during the 6th China International Import Expo. We will continue to provide safe and reliable products and services to support the smooth operation of their Airbus fleet and contribute to their sustainable development as we invent the future of flight together.”
