Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance, a major multi-product MRO provider and Xiamen Airlines, first regional airline of the People’s Republic of China officially declared support for the GEnx-1B74/75 engines equipping the Chinese airline’s fleet of Boeing 787-9s, which will eventually cover six aircrafts. Xiamen Airlines, which took delivery of its first 787-9 on 8 December 2016, is growing its bond with AFI KLM E&M who is already providing Component and Engines Support for the carrier’s six 787-8s. The contract will cover shop visits and the maintenance and spare engine access to assure the availability of Xiamen Airlines ‘787-9’ fleet and the flawless continuity of its operations. The maintenance work will be carried out at AFI KLM E&M’s worldwide-recognized GEnx center of excellence in Amsterdam.
AFI KLM E&M and Xiamen Airlines have worked together for years on CFM56-7B and GEnx Engine Support and 787-8 Component Support. During that time, the Chinese airlines has been able to rely on and appreciate the level of quality and responsiveness in implemented for the Genx power plants equipping its fleet of 787-8s, Xiamen Airlines decided to expand the maintenance with AFI KLM E&M deal to the engines equipping its fleet of 787-9s.
