Willis Lease Finance to establish new engine repair center in Malaysia

Willis Lease Finance Corporation (WLFC) is expanding its global maintenance capabilities with plans to establish a new Willis Engine Repair Center (WERC) in Johor, Malaysia.

The company has purchased land in Johor to develop the facility, which will become WLFC’s third WERC. The company currently operates engine repair centers in Coconut Creek, Florida, and Bridgend, Wales.

The WERC facilities provide maintenance, repair and storage services for WLFC’s owned engine portfolio as well as third-party assets, supporting the company’s integrated aviation services platform.

The new Malaysia facility will extend WLFC’s engine repair center network into Asia and strengthen its ability to support customers across the Asia-Pacific region. The company said Malaysia’s strategic location, skilled aerospace workforce, established aviation ecosystem and logistics infrastructure make it well suited for the operation.

“The establishment of WERC Malaysia marks a significant milestone in the expansion of our global footprint and underscores our commitment to one of aviation’s fastest-growing markets,” said Austin C. Willis, CEO of WLFC.

He added that rising global demand for engine maintenance is driving the company to expand its in-house restoration capabilities, with the new facility expected to improve operational efficiency and bring WLFC’s services closer to customers in the Asia-Pacific region.

WLFC is partnering with South Alliance Sdn. Bhd. on the land purchase and development of WERC Malaysia. Construction is currently expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2027.
