Vietjet to build MRO Hangar in Laos, creating 2,500 jobs and expanding Aviation projects with strategic partnerships.

Vietjet and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Laos have announced an agreement to enhance air transport connectivity. The announcement ceremony occurred in Vientiane, attended by Vietnam’s President To Lam and Laos’s Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, along with high-ranking dignitaries from both countries.

Vietjet will partner with the Department of Civil Aviation of Laos to implement aviation projects and expand air transport activities. This collaboration is expected to create up to 2,500 new jobs in the aviation sector. Additionally, Vietjet plans to establish Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities in Laos. The Vietjet Aviation Academy will oversee the training of the new workforce according to international aviation standards. In exchange, the Department of Civil Aviation of Laos will provide administrative, legal, and facility support. Furthermore, it will coordinate with other agencies to facilitate the execution of these projects.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Laos highly values Vietjet’s contributions and its rapidly expanding flight network. Additionally, the agreement aligns with the mutual goals outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding. This MOU on Strategic Cooperation in Transport spans from 2016 to 2025 and involves both the Vietnamese and Lao governments.

In 2023, Vietjet, in collaboration with Lao Airlines, launched a state-of-the-art regional aircraft maintenance center. Additionally, earlier this year, Vietjet inaugurated its first route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Vientiane. This new air service provides more convenient travel options between the two countries. Moreover, it facilitates further connections to destinations such as Australia, India, South Korea, Japan, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, and beyond.
