US-Bangla Airlines has officially announced plans to acquire 21 Boeing aircraft by 2027, marking the largest fleet expansion in the airline’s history as it seeks to strengthen its presence across South Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
The expansion includes 15 Boeing 737-8 aircraft and six Boeing 737-800s, which will be acquired through agreements with five leasing companies. The airline confirmed that lease agreements have already been finalised, following its earlier announcement of a BDT140 billion investment to support the fleet growth programme.
According to Boeing, the additional aircraft will enable US-Bangla Airlines to expand its regional and international network while benefiting from improved fuel efficiency, enhanced operational reliability and a better passenger experience.
The fleet announcement was made during a ceremony attended by senior officials from the Government of Bangladesh, representatives of the U.S. Embassy, Boeing executives and officials from the participating leasing companies.
Industry officials said the investment aligns with Bangladesh’s ambition to establish itself as a regional aviation hub, supported by ongoing infrastructure developments, including the opening of the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Alongside its fleet expansion, US-Bangla Airlines announced plans to strengthen its workforce by sponsoring the training of 200 pilots and 100 certified aircraft maintenance engineers, ensuring the airline has the operational and technical capabilities required to support its growing fleet.
The expansion represents a significant milestone for Bangladesh’s largest private airline, positioning it for sustained international growth while contributing to the country’s broader aviation development strategy.
