UAC pitches aircraft production and support plans for India

United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is presenting its civil aircraft portfolio and proposed industrial cooperation opportunities at the INNOPROM-India exhibition in New Delhi.

UAC is displaying models of the Il-114-300 regional turboprop, SJ-100 short-haul aircraft and MS-21 medium-haul aircraft alongside United Engine Corporation.

The company is also discussing aircraft localisation and after-sales support in India, including potential local production of aircraft and components. UAC said the proposed cooperation could cover aircraft supply, production localisation and technology partnerships.

UAC CEO Vadim Badekha said negotiations with Indian partners have progressed on the Il-114-300, with agreements expected to be signed during the exhibition.

“The capabilities of UAC and other Rostec enterprises allow us to offer Indian partners not just individual products, but comprehensive industrial cooperation—from aircraft supplies to localised production and technological partnerships,” Badekha said.

UAC is also working with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on a proposed SJ-100 production localisation programme. According to Badekha, the parties have agreed to more than 80 per cent of the licensing agreement, and the company expects to finalise it soon.

The Il-114-300 is designed for regional operations and can operate from smaller airfields and shorter runways. The aircraft uses the TV7-117ST-01 engine.

The SJ-100 is a short-haul aircraft seating up to 103 passengers. Its Russian-content configuration includes PD-8 engines, landing gear, avionics, and auxiliary power unit systems.

The MS-21 is a medium-haul aircraft powered by PD-14 engines, targeting higher-capacity domestic and regional routes.

For India’s aviation sector, the proposed cooperation could create opportunities beyond aircraft deliveries, particularly in local production, component support, maintenance, and after-sales services as UAC seeks to establish a longer-term presence in the market.
