Transport Canada certifies Airbus helicopters H175 for Canadian operations

Airbus Helicopters has received approval from Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) to operate its H175 helicopter in Canada, paving the way for the aircraft’s entry into the country’s rotorcraft market.

The certification positions the H175 to support a wide range of missions across Canada, including offshore energy transport, search and rescue (SAR), emergency medical services (EMS), private and business aviation, public services, and defence operations. Designed to perform in demanding environments, the aircraft is well-suited for Canada’s varied landscape, from offshore platforms to remote northern territories.

Bart Reijnen, Head of North America at Airbus Helicopters, described the certification as a significant milestone for the Canadian helicopter industry. He said the approval reflects both the dedication of Airbus teams and the capabilities of the H175 platform, while reinforcing the company’s commitment to delivering advanced, safe, and efficient rotary-wing solutions tailored to Canadian operators.

The multirole super-medium H175 combines range, speed, and payload capacity in its class. It is equipped with Airbus Helicopters’ Helionix avionics suite, which enhances situational awareness, reduces pilot workload, and improves overall safety. The aircraft can accommodate up to 18 passengers and is designed to provide a smooth and comfortable flight experience.

Globally, the H175 fleet has accumulated more than 300,000 flight hours and holds additional certifications from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). With its established operational track record, Airbus Helicopters expects the H175 to play a significant role in supporting critical missions across Canada’s vast and challenging operating environment.
