Tropic Air Charters has taken delivery of its first Tecnam P2012 Traveller as the South Florida operator begins replacing its legacy Britten-Norman aircraft.
The aircraft was accepted at Tecnam’s headquarters in Capua, Italy, before completing its transatlantic ferry flight to Florida. It is the first of two P2012 Travellers included in the operator’s acquisition agreement.
The aircraft will be used for charter operations between South Florida and the Bahamas, including services to island destinations with shorter runways.
Anthony Marinello, President of Tropic Air Charters, said, “Traveling to Capua to see our first P2012 Traveller roll off the production line and complete the acceptance process in person was an incredible experience. The Italian craftsmanship and attention to detail are outstanding. Seeing the aircraft officially arrive on our ramp in Florida yesterday makes it all real. We are thrilled to introduce our clients to a completely elevated era of comfort, safety, and reliability for their Bahamian travels.”
The P2012 Traveller is a twin-engine aircraft equipped for regional and island operations. Its Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) capability allows it to operate from shorter runways, while its modern avionics support the operator’s scheduled flight activities.

Tropic Air Charters is replacing its existing Britten-Norman aircraft as part of its fleet modernisation programme. The introduction of the P2012 marks the first step in the transition, with the second aircraft to follow under the two-aircraft agreement.
Francesco Sferra, Tecnam P2012 – Special Mission Platforms Sales & Business Development Manager, stated, “It is always a proud and special moment when we welcome a customer to our headquarters in Capua to hand over the keys, and even more exciting when that aircraft successfully touches down at its new home. Tropic Air Charters is dedicated to providing a premier travel experience in a high-frequency, island-hopping environment. We are honored to support their fleet transition and are excited to see the P2012 Traveller become the absolute benchmark for luxury and reliability in the Caribbean charter market.”
The first P2012 Traveller is expected to enter service in South Florida ahead of the upcoming peak travel season.
