Tarom partners with CDB Aviation for Boeing 737 MAX fleet expansion
TAROM is currently the longest operating airline of Romania, having played a central role in advancing the country’s aviation industry and its regional connectivity.

Strategic Boeing 737 MAX lease agreement between CDB Aviation and TAROM to enhance fleet modernization and operational efficiency.

CDB Aviation, an Irish subsidiary of CDB Leasing, recently announced lease agreements for two Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with Romanian flag carrier TAROM. These aircraft, leased from CDB Aviation’s direct orderbook with Boeing, will aid TAROM’s fleet modernization. This process aims to standardize the fleet and achieve significant cost reductions. Moreover, the delivery schedule for aircraft with 189 seats is set to be delivered between December 2025 and January 2026.

Since its inception seven decades ago, TAROM is currently the longest operating airline of Romania, having played a central role in advancing the country’s aviation industry and its regional connectivity. With these MAX aircraft, TAROM will be able to continue to enhance its market position, while building one of the youngest fleets in the region,”

TAROM Romanian Air Transport, established in 1954, operates under the Ministry of Transport’s authority. Since June 25, 2010, it has been a member of the SkyTeam Alliance. Moreover, the Romanian flag carrier owns a fleet of 18 aircraft. Additionally, TAROM serves 70 destinations, either with its own aircraft or through code share partners.

CDB Aviation, an Irish subsidiary, wholly owned by China Development Bank Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., operates for 39 years. Moreover, the China Development Bank primarily backs it, ensuring robust financial support for its operations. The company is rated Investment Grade by Moody’s (A2), S&P Global (A), and Fitch (A+).
