StandardAero has secured another order for its TEAMFlex CFM56-7B engine exchange programme from India’s Stellar Aviation Solutions, further strengthening its presence in the global engine support market and underscoring the growing demand for flexible engine exchange solutions that minimise aircraft downtime.
Under the agreement, StandardAero will provide Stellar Aviation Solutions with a serviceable CFM56-7B turbofan engine with significant remaining operational life to support a major African Boeing 737-800F cargo operator. In exchange, StandardAero will receive the operator’s unserviceable engine, enabling the aircraft to return to service quickly while the removed engine undergoes maintenance or overhaul.
The TEAMFlex programme is designed to provide airlines, cargo operators, lessors and asset owners with immediate access to fully supported replacement engines, helping them avoid prolonged aircraft-on-ground (AOG) situations and reduce the need to maintain expensive spare engine inventories.
Commenting on the partnership, Dipesh Mathur, President & CEO of Stellar Aviation Solutions, said the programme offers a practical and cost-effective approach to engine support. “This is a win-win strategy for our customers. They receive a fresh-from-shop-visit engine backed by full warranties and support, while exchanging their core for a better price. This approach reduces the airline’s requirement to hold spare engine support and delivers zero turnaround time it’s a concept very similar to just-in-time inventory management applied to engine support,” he said.
The latest order coincides with the first anniversary of StandardAero‘s TEAMFlex service, which was introduced to provide CFM56-7B operators with a responsive engine exchange solution that enables aircraft to return to revenue service rapidly while minimising operational disruptions caused by engine maintenance requirements.

As global airlines continue to face supply chain constraints, limited engine availability and increasing shop visit demand, engine exchange programmes such as TEAMFlex are emerging as an increasingly attractive alternative to traditional spare engine ownership. By offering immediate access to serviceable engines, these programmes enable operators to optimise fleet availability, improve asset utilisation and reduce capital tied up in spare engine inventories.
For the global MRO industry, the growing adoption of flexible engine exchange solutions reflects a broader shift towards asset-light maintenance strategies, where airlines increasingly rely on specialised aftermarket providers to enhance operational resilience and maximise fleet uptime amid continuing capacity constraints.
