SR Technics signs deal to help Edelweiss upgrade four aircraft

SR Technics has signed a deal with Edelweiss Air to upgrade the cabin experience on four of the carrier’s A340-300s. The upgrading work will take place at MRO’s Center of Excellence for Cabin Modifications in Zurich over the next two years.

The first of the four aircraft arrived at the SR Technics facilities in October 2016, and it took off to Cape Town after 37 days of renovation with better flight experience to passengers. The project included installation of new seats, galleys and also new / modified lavatories. A programmable LED mood light system was also installed to enhance the cabin illumination. The renewed cabin incorporates three classes – economy max, business, and economy. Passengers can also gain benefit from the Panasonic eXLite inflight entertainment system, which offers audio and video on demand as well as games and other entertainment.

“We are delighted to continue our journey with Edelweiss,” said Michael Sattler, head of Aircraft Services. “The successful completion of the previous six A320 aircraft demonstrates our commitment to deliver on our promise. As a leading cabin modifications provider, we aim to understand the specific needs of each customer, and we are fully committed to go the extra mile to meet these needs.”

Lorenz Thöni, CTO at Edelweiss, said, “The first A340 modification was the biggest project that Edelweiss has carried out to date, and SR Technics has proved yet again that they are the right partner for this kind of project. The team has demonstrated great enthusiasm and flexibility while working against the clock to ensure that the job was completed on time. I would like to warmly thank the entire SR Technics team on behalf of the Edelweiss management.”
